Actually, CALLISTO has been developed for use in vending machines. The increased consumer demand for detailled product information, such as list of ingriedients, requires larger displays. The graphical system equipment - CPU and display - allow flexible user interfaces as well as media support for sophisticated marketing campaigns.

Today, with its 532 MHz Freescale i.MX31L ARM1136 CPU, the flexible memory size (standard 128 MB RAM / 128MB ROM) and the big 264 mm display, CALLISTO is suitable for various applications in industry and medical labs technology. CALLISTO is available with optional touch functionality (4-wire resistive or SAW) and/or speakers. The unit is equipped with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, USB host and OTG, RS-232 as well as a SD-card reader.

As a matter of course, CALLISTO is compatible to the Garz & Fricke vending machine controllers and telemetry-solutions.

Starter-Kits with pre-installed ROM-Images for Windows CE and Linux as well as optimized driver and support packages make it easy to start the software development without delay.

CALLISTO systems are shipped with a standardized operating system (image) and related drivers and libraries.

To customize the operating system to the individual requirements of your application, the Windows CE board support package (BSP) is required.
To use the BSP, the Microsoft Platform Builder is essential. You may need to purchase this additonal software from one of the Microsoft Windows Embedded distributors.

CALLISTO supports Linux. The Starter Kit - please order with Linux option - includes a CD with sources, patches, examples of Linux kernels and userland applications as well as precompiled binaries. Of course all neccessary adapter cables and a power supply are also part of the delivery. Thus you are ready to start out-of-the-box with your project.
