Garz & Fricke and the Westphalian company AKVIGO GmbH have collaborated to develop a tablet dispenser that supplies chronically ill patients with vital medication and also relieves nursing staff.
Elderly and chronically patients are in many cases dependent on the support of relatives or nursing services. However, their reliable support is more difficult than ever to maintain in times of the Corona crisis: Disease-related absences of relatives are just as conceivable as overworked nursing staff. Also, it is advisable to reduce physical contact in a targeted manner to avoid possible infections. The newly developed digital medication management system TAB in TIME provides a solution. It enables chronically diseased people to be supplied with vital medication with minimal involvement of a nursing person.
After filling the device in the morning, it provides up to five separate medicine dispensers, including an appropriate amount of water, without any barriers. TAB in TIME reminds visually and acoustically of the correct time of the medication and automatically notifies the registered contact person via SMS in the case of incorrect or omitted doses. This can be the nursing staff or a relative. In this manner, the device guarantees the optimal and vital supply of medication to diseased people of all age groups in their homes. But it can also be used in healthcare facilities, such as nursing homes or hospitals.
HMI from Garz & Fricke
Within the realization of the system, Garz & Fricke was responsible as the partner for the control unit. This HMI (Human Machine Interface) consists of a display, touch, computing unit, and the corresponding mechanics. For this interface, Garz & Fricke developed a ready-to-use mechanical installation concept for easy integration as well as reliable seals at the front according to protection class IP 66. The heart of the system is the single board computer SANTINO LT 5.0 by Garz & Fricke as a panel mount version. At AKVIGO the ready-to-install HMI module is simply inserted through the housing cut-out on the front of the device and fastened inside with four screw terminals.
"Due to the close cooperation with Garz & Fricke, the know-how of this company, the personal commitment of the employees, their patience within the necessary continuous improvement process, TAB in TIME has been successfully developed as the innovative medication management", comments Gabriele Bunse CEO AKVIGO GmbH on the cooperation with Garz & Fricke.
